Shannon MacDonald

Shannon MacDonald is the Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs for Johnson & Johnson Inc. (Canada) where she leads internal and external communications, federal and provincial advocacy, and stakeholder relations.

She has more than 20 years’ experience in the health and life sciences sectors, and a consistent track record of leading achievement through collaboration with a broad set of stakeholders including patient groups, healthcare professionals, academia, government and corporate communities.

Prior to joining J&J, Shannon served as Vice President of Public Affairs and Partnerships for Canada’s Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (Rx&D) where she represented more than 50 member companies and enabled alignment and progress across numerous industry initiatives and multi-stakeholder collaborations.

A long-standing health policy advocate, Shannon co-chaired Canada’s first National Population Health Study of Neurological Conditions (2014) and co-authored Neurological Health Charities Canada’s Framework for a National Brain Strategy (2010). She also volunteers as a Member of the Board of Directors for the Toronto Central Community Care Access Centre.
