The Sprawl is a crowdfunded, ad-free, made-in-Calgary model. Before launching the Sprawl, Jeremy worked as a freelance journalist who covered Calgary for local and international media. A two-time winner of National Magazine Awards, Jeremy also worked in communications for UNHCR and the Calgary United Way, among others. At United Way, a colleague and Jeremy won a Gold Quill Award from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) for crisis communications after the 2013 Southern Alberta floods.

Dimitri has engaged in public opinion research studies and provided strategic advice to corporate clients, political leaders, and industry associations for more than 25 years. As a researcher, Dimitri has designed and implemented many integrated qualitative and quantitative research projects in Canada and the United States. He has conducted ad testing for social awareness campaigns and conducted research to drive support for changes to public policy and legislation on a variety of issues. Dimitri was a chief strategist and pollster on Premier Jason Kenney’s successful election in Alberta in 2019, as well as Kenney’s campaign for leadership of the United Conservative Party of Alberta in 2017.

Danielle has written for both local and international audiences. You can read (or hear) her work at Canadaland, Star Metro Edmonton, Gig City, BUSTLE, Canadian True Crime Podcast, and The Sprawl to name a few. As a writer, Danielle typically covers indigenous or women’s issues. But she has also launched a pop-up podcast “Outrage Machine” on politics. Stay up to date with her favourite writing topics by signing up for Dani’s newsletter on her website.

Jared describes himself as a “pracademic” -- a practicing political scientist -- whose career path has taken him from government boardrooms to university classrooms. He leads the Common Ground initiative - a research project helping to uncover the values that underpin politics in Western Canada and the American West. He is also Director of master’s programs for the Department of Political Science. Prior to joining the University of Alberta, Jared served in various senior management roles in the Government of Alberta, including as Director of Learning and Development Policy (Public Service Commission), Senior Operations Manager (Executive Council), and Director of Intergovernmental Relations (Executive Council).
