The Brenda Barootes Award for Leadership in Public Affairs is established to honor the legacy of Brenda Barootes, a highly respected public affairs professional who made significant contributions to the industry throughout her career. The award will recognize individuals and/or teams who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and impact in the field of public affairs. The award will be presented annually, unless otherwise indicated.

Eligibility

The award is available to any individual or team that has worked or is currently working in public affairs, with a preference to those located in Saskatchewan or Alberta. Individual nominees should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the industry and must have made significant contributions to the field through their work.

Nominations for the award can be submitted by anyone, including colleagues, peers, or industry associations. Nominations must include a completed nomination form, and any supporting materials that demonstrate the nominee's contributions to the field of public affairs. Please submit nominations using this form. All noimniations are due by March 15.

Selection criteria

The selection committee will evaluate nominees based on the following criteria:
  • Demonstrated leadership and innovation in the field of public affairs
  • Significant contributions to public policy, civic engagement, public service, or public communication
  • Positive impact on the industry, community, or society at large
  • Dedication to the values and principles that Brenda Barootes upheld throughout her career, including integrity, professionalism, and commitment to excellence in public affairs.
