Alex Greco is the Public Affairs Specialist at GS1 Canada, the world’s leading supply chain standards organization. Alex is also the Principal of Alex Greco Consulting where he specializes in research, communications and public policy for his clients. Within the Public Affairs Association of Canada (PAAC), he is a member of the Events Committee.
Prior to joining GS1 Canada, Alex was the Acting Executive Assistant to current Deputy Mayor of Etobicoke, Councillor Vincent Crisanti, where he was the councillor’s chief political advisor and managed policy and legislative affairs for the councilor. He also assisted his staff with event planning, speech administrative tasks and constituency work.
Alex was also a Policy Analyst in Ontario’s Office of the Official Opposition where he was responsible for opposition research, issue research pertaining to agriculture, transit, manufacturing, jobs and the economy and preparing briefing materials which included, but were not limited to stakeholder meetings, issue and briefing notes and policy content for the 2013 AMO conference.
Before working at the Ontario Office of the Official Opposition, Alex worked as an Intern for Toronto Election Services at the City of Toronto, where he helped write a policy report that addressed Internet Voting as a viable option for future municipal elections. He gained significant experience in liaising with municipal and provincial officials, senior staff and stakeholders.
On the corporate front, Alex has liaised with associations, corporations, and various companies on government relations files to advance work in various sectors, including agriculture, digital infrastructure and healthcare.
Alex has had campaign experience at all three levels of government. He has assisted with political mailers, membership campaigns, event organization, canvassing, voter contact, outreach, fundraising, get-out-the-vote (GOTV) efforts, communications, media monitoring and political strategy.
Alex is a founding partner of GTATory (www.gtatory.com), a conservative events newsletter and website that aggregates federal, provincial and municipal conservative events in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
During his spare time, he participates in Toastmaster’s International at GS1 Canada and is community volunteer. He currently serves as the Membership Director for the York Mills Gardens Community Association and is a director on the St. Michael’s College Alumni Association Board of Directors. He has also contributed to various other organizations, including the University of Toronto Alumni Association and the North York Harvest Food Bank.
Alex earned both his Honours Bachelor of Arts (H.B.A.) in Political Science and Criminology and his Masters of Arts (M.A.) in Political Science from the University of Toronto.
